Staff are required to conduct operations in a manner consistent with international environmental laws and regulations, as detailed in the written environmental policies and standards provided to each employee. Vendors are encouraged to implement systems to minimize the negative impact of their operations on the environment e.g., reduce waste, utilize recycled and non-toxic materials when possible, and improve energy efficiency.
The total number of hours worked by CBM Mart employees must not exceed 60 hours per week, including overtime, unless exceptional circumstances occur. Overtime must be voluntary and mutually agreed upon, and employees must be compensated according to local law or industry standard, whichever is higher. Workers shall be given at least one rest day in any seven day period.
CBM Mart does not utilize child labor, defined as the employment of children under the age of 15 or younger than the legal compulsory age for completing education, whichever is higher. We encourage the development of lawful workplace apprenticeship programs, whenever possible, for the eductional benefit of our workers, provided that all participants meet both the minimum legal age requirements and follow all applicable laws and regulations concerning juvenile/young workers. No work that may jeopardize health or safety is to be performed by workers under the age of 18.
Under certain circumstances, CBM Mart offers housing accommodations to workers. CBM Mart ensures that the quality of such living quarters is at least equal to local independent housing, and that the living environment is clean, healthy, and safe for all residents, with adequate privacy, security, ventilation, and living space.
CBM Mart ensures that employees are provided with a safe and healthy work environment and comply with local health and safety regulations. Adequate measures, systems, protections, and training are implemented to prevent harm to workers’ health, safety, and well-being. Women who are pregnant will never be required to do work that is prejudicial to the health of the mother or child.
CBM Mart complies with the local requirements for wages and benefits or according to prevailing industry standard. If the two are conflicting, the higher standard will be applied. Worker compensation, including wages, overtime pay, benefits, and paid leave, must meet or exceed the legal minimum or industry standards or collective bargaining agreements, whichever is higher. All employment shall be at-will.
